FAQ
Straight answers for common quote, tolerance, material and ordering questions.
What files should I send?
STEP is preferred because it keeps the geometry useful for design changes and quoting. STL is fine for print-only work. A sketch with key dimensions is enough for an early discussion.
Can you work from a rough idea?
Yes. If you can explain what the part needs to hold, locate, check or protect, we can usually turn that into a practical first design direction.
What tolerances can you achieve?
It depends on geometry, material, print process and whether the part is machine finished. Standard printed parts are quoted with realistic functional tolerances; product pages list tighter figures where a standard item has a defined finishing process.
Are the Vee Blocks printed or machined?
The Vee Blocks use resin printed bodies with machine finishing on the important working features. They are intended as practical inspection and workholding aids, not hardened steel toolroom blocks.
Can you make a custom size?
Yes. Standard products keep quoting simple, but custom sizes, added features and tighter finishing can be quoted where the geometry and material allow it.
What materials do you use?
FDM materials include ABS, PLA, PETG, TPU and support/speciality materials. Resin options include Elegoo ABS-like and standard 8K resins. Material choice depends on the part, load, accuracy requirement and environment.
What is the usual lead time?
Many small jobs can be turned around in a few working days, depending on queue, material, finishing and complexity. If you have a deadline, include it with the enquiry and we will confirm what is realistic.
Do you ship across the UK?
Yes. UK shipping is available, and local collection or delivery may be possible around the Gloucester area by arrangement.
Can you sign an NDA?
Yes. Customer designs and files are treated confidentially as standard, and work can be handled under NDA where required.
Can you help with metrology or engineering IT as well?
Yes. There is a separate Metrology IT service for workstation upgrades, troubleshooting, software environment support and point-cloud workflow help.
